I'm about to get the tamron lens for a single Sony A7iii body use at a particular event. Lighting at the venue is not great but having tried the Tamron 35 -150 F/2-2.8 I realised I needed have more reach than light.

It's a big compromise based on using a single body - no changing lenses but I'm hoping the low light capability of the body will allow me to capture closer to intended final output rather than big crops (which amplified the low light to a higher degree than I'm hoping an f-stop of 6.3 brings).

Would love to know your opinions or any alternatives.

Not quite the same, but I have a Tamron 18-400 lens for my Canon DSLR cameras (two 77D and a 90D). It has become the "must have" lens on whatever camera that I take with me because it's usually the only lens that I take, since it works well for most any shot near or far. No need for carrying any other lenses. It's heavy, but lighter than the weight of the three lenses that it replaced in the bag. No need to expose the camera to dust for lens changes either.
