Hello

Let me preface this by saying I have no issue accepting this is my poor photography skills rather than a lens issue but here we go anyway.

Purchased a grey import brand new Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 G2 for my Sony A7iii, previously I had a 35mm Prime and 55mm Zeiss Prime.

However I am unhappy with virtually all the Tamron photos, they don’t seem sharp and just look very soft.

This was at 1/1000 and F2.8, I just looks out of focus and not sharp.

Most of the images look similar

I had no such issues with the previous primes.

Could it just be a bad copy?

Thanks

How is it at f5.6? Have you looked at many reviews and compared your pictures to review examples.

It's not a budget zoom, but compared to the Zeiss 55 f1.8 my Sony 24-105 G has less detail.

I use the 28-75 G2 almost 80% of the time and find it reliable and sharp on a Sony A7iii. I also have a Sigma 35mm 1.4 art but this only gets out if the lighting is very poor. Of course there is a difference in sharpness / contrast but for how the photos are used (mainly screen) none of the clients have ever complained.

I would get another copy from WEX or such and see if there is any difference. WEX offer 30 day returns and I have used them to test the 24-105 and the lovely tamron 50-150 but seriously, the 28-75 was better than the sony 24-105 and much cheaper than the 50-150 without compromising quality so I've hung onto the 28-75 G2.
