Tamron 150-600mm Di VC USD G2 Lens Thread

Looks like at may be as good as the Sigma C ;)

Tell you what would be nice if they made a M4/3 adapter to give complete comparability, then i may go back to Tamron:D

TBH, apart from the issue of freezing with early versions of the 1st Tamron, in my experience I reckon it'll be a good lens ... but at what price?

One member on the Nikon forum has worn his out, aperture and focus motor but i agree with you thats why i stuck with mine and its focus freeze for so long, the results where great, there is no reason why they should not now launch a great lens,i think i have seen £1000 mentioned somewhere.

Compatible with two exclusive tele converters
Two exclusive tele converters offering 1.4x and 2.0x magnification have been designed to match the optics of the SP 150-600mm G2, providing a maximum zoom range up to 1200mm.

Compatible with the TAMRON TAP-in ConsoleTM
The optional TAP-in Console provides a USB connection to your personal computer, enabling you to easily update your lens’s firmware as well as customize features including fine adjustments to the autofocus and VC.

Not sure about a 2x converter for an f6.3 lens but the rest seems positive.

Teleconvertor?! Colour me impressed if they get that to work on an f6.3 zoom.

Zoom lock's a nice addition.

C'mon though SigRon, one of you needs to grow some b*****ks and give us a new supertele prime. Hell, make it crop only and undercut Canikon on size, weight, and price.

Hopefully this wont be a dust pump like the 1st gen, and won't drop of so much over 550mm.

V2 already - that's a bit of a surprise......

Agreed about V1 being a dust pump. It looks like they're catching up with Sigma with the Tap-in Console?

I've got some great results from my V1 but I will consider upgrading to the V2.
I have the V1 but unless IQ is massively better, or it's half the weight I can't see any reason to upgrade tbh.

Looks like the weight is about the same which makes it a lot lighter than the Sigma....
Only the Sigma sport, the Sigma C which is pretty much the same optically as the V1 is the same weight as the V1. Obviously if the V2 rivals the Sigma sport then they're onto a winner, but I don't see how they can match the same build and weather sealing without increasing the weight.

I stand corrected.

I have the sigma 150-600S ,which is a f6.3 lens , bolted on to a canon 80D using a canon mk2 I.4 tc it A/F's without any problems at f9 ,I previously owned a canon 1Dmkiii and with that lens and camera combo the new kenko 1.4 HD tc not only gave quick fast a/f it also allowed all focus points and focus modes to be used

I think the Coyon reference was more for the x2 teleconvertor. At full pelt it would be at f12.6, cant see many cameras AF working at that range.

I have used the Kenko 1.4 on my C model with a Nikon D810, I have found it a little hit and miss for me. Mike Warbuton along with yourself seem to get better results using Canon bodies.

Impressed that's workable at f9. I wouldn't describe the Tamron as 'quick fast' on the 7dii even without a TC.

Remember the 1D series feature more powerful batteries and 10fps shooting speed which I assume help with a.f speed . The 80D is noticeably slower to aquire target but fine once locked on .

Looking at this lens it appears to have the grooves for arca swiss type tripod heads on the lens foot already, so no separate plate needed, if so thats a good idea.

Calumet now advertising it for pre-order at a figure of £1350:00, (worse than I thought!), that's quite a jump from the Mk1.

But not as big a jump from the Mk 1 when it was first released, and about the same if you allow for the difference in the strength of the £.

perhaps to compete with the sigma sport, about the same price.
But then it needs to be noticeably optically better than the gen 1, and full weather sealing which I doubt given the weight.

"Dust and splash".
Can't remember what I originally paid for mine but I'm sure it was under £1k.

I paid £699 for my Gen 1 after cashback, great lens for the money imo. My reference to the full weather sealing was in regards to someone suggesting the gen 2 might be competing with the Sigma Sport (y)

Yep great value lens ... I realised what you were saying and indeed it falls short there :)

Seems a very quiet thread so i'll add the below. Had mine for a month or two now and only really got to use it in anger this week. Very pleased and a sharp lens all things considered.
