As the title really, I’ve just bought a used Tamron 150-600mm to go with my Nikon D5200. I’d previously checked compatibility and various images of Flickr to make sure that the two items would work together and everything seemed to be fine.

The lens arrived this morning so, after checking all the switches were in the right place and the barrel was unlocked, I fitted it to my D5200, pointed it out the front door and nothing!. Manual focus works, the camera has a fully charged battery, and everything that should be clean is clean.

Any ideas anybody?

Hi Bob, which model of the lens is it - what is the full description on the lens/box?

Morning Steve, it was the 150-600 mm. but not the g2. It came from mpb and after about 10 minutes with them on live chat the problem went away, as did the lens! Apparently it’s a known problem with this model that requires tweaking with some kind of tamron device that I didn’t have, so it’s going back to be replaced with the Sigma 150-600!

Thanks for your reply though, Mate!

It was my thought that the lens might need a firmware update to work with the D5200 if it was the older version.

Pleased to hear you got it sorted :)

I have the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary and absolutely love it!
