I am thinking of getting the tamron 100-400mm lens for next year trip to Mull to go along with the 150-600mm does anybody have one and are they worth it for wildlife

I've got the Sigma version of the 100-400 and find it's a handy focal length range (even on a full frame DSLR) for all sorts of stuff (general purpose), and isn't too large to walk around with either. Despite the advantage in focal length, I'm pretty sure I'd find the 150-600 version too big to walk around with for long periods. I suppose it all depends on how far away the wildlife will be from your camera, whether you have a crop sensor camera that gives a bit extra magnification, and how much walking about you need to do to find your wildlife. Now if they only did a 100-600 that's the same size, weight and image quality as the 100-400! Best of luck deciding. (y)

I bought the Tamron one a few months back, only used it a couple of times but pleased with it so far. It’s quiet and quick to focus and the stabilisation works very well. Image quality seems to be very good but I’ve nothing to compare it to in terms of a telephoto. Caveat to all this is I’m not a wildlife photographer so I’ve no idea how it would work for birds.

Good luck finding one though! The only place in the UK that had them in September / October was Ffordes. Even the grey dealers didn’t have them and there were no used ones anywhere at the time.

I bought one a couple of years ago from E-infinity and very pleased with it.
You do need decent light and at f11 it is very sharp.
I've been been meaning to buy a Tamron 150-600 G2 from them as well decided to wait until next year as I've hardly done any photography since coved-19 hit us.
