Hi all,

I have recently let my web hosting package lapse. Mainly due to deciding I wanted to go with a different provider and also reading on here (although I cant remember the thread) recommendations for the following company - https://www.tsohost.com. Would people agree this is the best company to go with or does anyone have any recommendations?

I have had a little dabble with putting a website together before but never been 100% happy with it, in terms of looks, social media integration and also ease of updating. I have come across http://www.prophoto.com which I really like the look of, it runs on Wordpress which seems to be very popular indeed.

Has anyone any recommendations on this also or other suggestions?

I've used tsohost for more than 5 years and never had any issues, in fact quite the opposite. I would say they're one of the best companies, both IT and non IT, I've ever dealt with.

Well that is some recomendation indeed

Many thanks.

Thanks for the replies all. As all of you seem to be using TSO which packages did you take?

I am leaning towards the standard hosting myself.

I second TSO host. I have two shared packages with them for a few basic sites and a VDS for my ecommerce store.

Service is second to none. Emails always answered within 20 minutes.
Dont think about it jut sign up, they are great.

I'll ninth, tenth and eleventh TSOHOST.

I was about to exceed my bandwidth on my standard hosting the other day (play-off games got a lot of traffic) so I asked them if I could have a small increase to tide me over for a week.

"Of course you can. We'll double it to 40Gb for the next month. No charge"

I did try to get them to take my money but they wouldn't hear of it. In the end I asked them to nominate a charity and I deposited a tenner in it in their name.

That kind of service is just routine for them.

I used 5quidhost for a while http://www.5quidhost.co.uk/ and they offered some good budget packages for someone getting into running a website for the first time. They always seemed to answer queries fast, and you can even try the service for free on a basic package before committing to a "paid" package.

For example my ISP hosts my the DNS for my domain (it's part of my broadband package) and 5quidhost explained how to set up my "A" record to point to their webspace, but some webhosts seem to want you to move your DNS to their own servers.

From research I'd recommend tsohost. But it's not who I use.

But I do have a discount code for Prophoto. Pm me if interested, I'm also happy to help with any queries setting it up.

I use Unlimited Web Hosting and am barely troubled by them. If I ever have issues with them, they sort them out quickly and efficiently.

That bought out the inner geek in me! :)

Sent you a PM. Many thanks for the offer of the code, very kind indeed

Also thanks to everyone who has made recomendations here. I have made the decision to go with TSO and ProPhoto. Just got to get it all setup now :)

I also vote Vidahost, excellent service and if you choose the VidaCloud the performance is great very reasonable pricing as well. I'm in the process of moving everything to them now.

With regards to prophoto it is something that you could setup yourself quite easily and save yourself a fair bit of cash in the process. Wordpress if free. If you need any help let me know.

Another +1 for TSO. Have had a reseller package with them for a couple of years now and never had a problem.

Just the other day I dropped a boo boo and deleted a wordpress install on one of my sites, I logged a ticket and within an hour it was delt with and they restored my site from a backup.

you can restore your site from a backup yourself too, their cpanel interface and backup procedures are awesome.
