Anyone, any ideas how I can get a urine sample from my cat. Short of picking him up by the tail and shaking I'm lost now. It's worse then getting blood from a stone
Had the same problem a couple of years ago.
I locked the catflap, waited till he looked ready for a pee and lifted him into a sink with plug in.
Syringe did the rest.
Lots of bleach in sink afterwards.
Get him so drunk he loses control of his bladder
Kidding!!!!!
Could make a cool video
put his paw in warm water while he's asleep (I've no idea if that works with cats i hasten to say , it was a b*****d practical joke to carry out on drunk freinds to make them wet themselves when i was much younger)
]I think you've just described my ex![]()
it's how an ex describes me...

It's a pain to do so it's much easier if the vet can do it! Assuming you can get the cat in the carrier in the first place obviously![]()
The trouble with asking the vets to do it is he gets so stressed out by being in his carrier and car journeys. Its only 5 minutes to the vets but during that time he'll empty every bodily fluid and solid he can. Invariably he's empty when we arrive, Taking him to the vets isn't fun.
I think I'll have to give the non absorbent litter ago.
Thats sounds a great idea. But you just know the cat will be able to detect you're not *really* going to the vet and so wont then pee. Cats being cats.may be put some in his carrier then drive him round the block - by the sound of it he'll pee furiously and you can suck some up with a syringe

The trouble is he won't just pee, he also vomits and craps copiously at the same time.
. Then they can take the pee while he's there.
I'd ask the vet if they have any light sedatives you can give him by mouth before transporting him. Then at least he'll arrive at the vet with some pee for them to take!
Or he needs to be left with the vet for a few hours. If he goes there and they fuss him, give him some food and water he might become less fearful of them anyway. Then they can take the pee while he's there.

Take a sample of your own urine in (or the wife's)
(Obviously I don't know how ill your cat might be & only I'm only joshing.)
