Taking photo's at Disco's

Are you saying then that Lens did not make a huge diffrence. All I want is something that I can use in the same enviroment and get top quality pics as we display them on a large screen through out the night, then put them on a website.

Yeah so a Sigma will do fine.

The 2.8 lens helps make the shot, it gives a completely different look to the images due to the shallow depth of field (blurred backward and forward of the focus point).

Dontstayin is an ok site to get ideas, problem is the pics on it are so small and compressed its a bit of a waste :( Check Flickr out too, keywords : club, nightclub, disco etc

Ive ordered the CANON 50MM F 1.8 MK II LENS for the time been off Kerso until I get the hang of things.

But its good for low light ?

It's only god for low light if you can get your subject in the frame otherwise it's no use, in a busy club type environment with a 50mm on a crop body you will be looking at head shots of individuals rather than group shots etc.

no you don't

Having scene the output of the xxxd series of cameras at 1600 iso I'd disagree while it's not totally vile on the latest 450D like it was on the earlier models it's still pretty useless for anything but emergencies. I rarely if ever use anything above 800iso on my 30D as the noise becomes far to annoying.

If 1600 on those bodies is comparable to the Fuji S3 at 1600 then it shouldnt be a problem in a club as youre not dealing with solid backgrounds.

As anyone got any pics i could look at with the lens I bought?

50mm is a waste of time for club shots. You will need to get shots of groups and the 50mm is no where NEAR wide enough.

It may be good in low light, but for group shots, the depth of field will be so shallow half the people will be slightly out of focus.

Oh and 1600 ISO on a xxxD body WILL cause noise (the 450D will be better, i'm refering to the older models more, 400D and older). The slightest change of the levels on an image shot at 1600 on a 400D will really bring out the noise in the photo.

For club use on a crop system I was always at the low end of my 18-70, now on full frame Im using a 24-70 which is very similar at the wide end.
