Yes
We have a Google nexus tablet and our 2 years old loves to play on it.
We can see the beneficial and educational aspect of playing on a tablet but it can also be unsafe. Most of the games we have are free and therefore full of adverts more or less easily accessible.
We have decided to get her her own tablet for a third birthday next month but I am undecided on which one. I have read mixed reviews on Amazon on the leapPad 2 and the InnoTab.

So which tablet do you have, which one you would recommend or not? And why?

I know most of them have poor battery life so I will probably get rechargeable batteries or AC adapter. And games could also become expensive.

Riatlin is certainly popular, but theres something to be said for diazepam as well...... oh, wait

(incidentally theres a big thread running on ipads and kids)

2 year old has an iPad 1
3 year old has an iPad 2
8 year old has an iPad mini

For me the quality of the android tablets just doesn't compare with the apple ones.

I'd suggest picking up a refurbished iPad 2 from apple for £269 when they pop up on the refurb store.

It's not the quality of the android tablet that is the problem, it is the quality of the apps.

We as a family have 2 iPads, my eldest (6) shares my work iPad and plays various games and my wife and youngest (4) shares another iPad. My 6 year old has started using pages to do her homework on, taking photos, resizing and adding text

Yes I agree that the same apps on an apple device seem much better than the apps on an android tablet.

However, I've used both the Samsung tab and nexus 7 and I find the responsiveness of the screens lagging and not as accurate as the iPads

Also, our iPad 1 has been dropped on laminate a few times and there's not a mark on it. A friends galaxy tab fell off the arm of the chair and broke

Compare searching for Barbie, Ben and holly or peppa pig on android and iOS and compare the difference. iOS simply attracts brands

Archos cobalt 80 cheap as chips in case it gets broken

My 20month old uses our old ipad2. It's been thrown and bashed a few times and still going. Also bought a cheap 7inch android tap to let him watch films in the car.

Why does your ipod have an ipad?

It was feeling left out, probably.
Could get very expensive if the OP has a Mini, and it wants one too.
Better make sure the garage has a decent wi-fi signal first.

11 and 12 year olds have iPad Mini as they say its well better than the full size iPad!!! 16GB is enough for them!

I have an Asus Transformer on Android but they say its rubbish!!!!!

Mark this down as the point at which your children begin to educate you lol
