It's about time I took the leap and got an Android (I know I don't want Apple) phone. I've always been put off contracts because they seem very expensive for someone like me who doesn't text or ring a lot of people but for a tenner this deal seems great, especially with the fair usage policy of T-Mobile meaning I can browse to my hearts content and the 500mb is only used up for video and downloads. I know the phones are hardly the top end but I'm not really bothered about spending a fortune and I've put up with my Samsung D500 for a few years and been very happy.

Here's a link to the deal: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/pay-monthly/deals/1/

My main question is does there seem to be a catch minus the 24 month contract? And out of the Samsung Galaxy Apollo and the LG Optimus One, which is the best one?

Hopefully someone a lot more into their phones than me can help :D.

EDIT - forgot to mention you can add unlimited texts on this deal for free.

Decided to go for it. I will not use that many minutes and instead of unlimited texts I've opted for unlimited landline calls which is much more useful for me. I don't really ring or text people much from my phone but the internet seems great and the android apps, plus the option is there if I need to contact people.

avoid t-mobile like the plague imo.
would recommend any HTC android and 3 do a sim only deal for £10 with 300 mins and more texts than possible to use.
I worked out my new phone and getting the phone sim free and paying £10 a month for the contract it broke even over the 24 month contract they were offering and im not tied in.

The best sub £100 android handset has to be the orange San Francisco. Free to unlock and there are some great roms available.

Agree about the San Fran, good phone for the money.

Then a few nice low end £10 tariffs with 500MB data. Tesco (running on o2 network) for example.

Personally I love my HTC Desire, but its a year old now and there are plenty of newer models on the horizon.
