Finally NAS'ed myself up....had a micro PC with a few USB external drives hanging off it before, but it always bugged me.
Got a Synology DS214 and a couple of WD Red 3TB drives. Stuck it in their hybrid raid configuration for now. Impressed with the software, will leave the 2TB external drive I have plugged into it as a local backup for stuff I care about (Music + Pictures), and use the build in Amazon Glacier client to upload the critical stuff (pictures). Pretty nice all in one backup/storage solution.
If I ever need more space I may just switch to 6TB configuration as the automated local + glacier backup is enough for me.
Anyway, thumbs up from me. Super quiet with the Red drives too.
