synch flash with studio lights

I have just bought the Elinchrom D-Lite 2 IT set up and have been trying to use it along with my canon 430 EX II. Synching all 3 at once has been a problem. According to the video when I set the 2 D Lites eye cell to synch with an on camera flash it will learn the pre flash setting then synch the 2 D lites to fire with the 430 EX II. In practise this isn't working for me and they aren't firing together. Am I missing something simple ? Sorry new to studio lights so probably a simple error.
Also is it possible to use the 430 EX II off camera and synch all 3 flashes with the transmitter provided or by using the 4 channel Calumet transmitter and receiver I already have.

turn the 430ex into manual mode, not E-TTL.

and yes, it is possible, you need to connect the reciever to the 430ex, and use the slave on the D lites.
