By now I must have read every article on the internet and all I have succedded in doing is confusing myself even more. So please somebody put me out of my misery.
I have 2 Elinchrom d-lite ie which came with built in recievers and an elinchrom echo transmitter plus a synch cable. I also have a canon 430 MKII and a 580 MK II with a Calumet transmitter and receiver for off camera work. How to I get them all to fire simultaneously if I wanted a 3 or 4 light set up. Can it be done with what I have do I need more receivers. Please in simple language what steps do I take because if I read 1 more article I will scream.

Thx,

John.

The D-Lite's have built in slave/photocells (see pages 9 & 10 of the manual) which will trigger the D-Lite's when they 'sense' a quick burst of light from another flash. So trigger your Canon flash with the Calumet transmitter/receiver and as long as you have the D-Lite photocells active (the LED by the button with the picture of an eye lit) all three should fire together. Don't know much about camera flashes, but either get another receiver for the other Canon unit or can you use a sync cable for that one perhaps.

Many thanks Paul thats the first time any of this made sense. Not sure what way I was interpreting the articles I read or maybe a combination of that and technical terms I was not familiar with but I got myself totally lost.
Thanks again,

John.

Hi John

Unless the Calumet triggers, which I'm assuming you can trigger the two Canons with, work on the same frequency you will need something that can trigger all four lights. You can get slave cell hot shoes which might be the cheapest option; use the Elinchrom trigger to fire the DLites which will then fire the Canons via the slave cell hot shoe.

Hope this helps.

Oh, just saw other reply & forgot about doing it that way around (same solution as mine but in opposite direction!). However, you would still need a slave cell hot shoe for the other Canon (or do you have two Calumet receivers?).

I have 2 Calumet receivers so if I have this right I simply put the 2 receivers on the speedlights the transmitter on the hotshoe and the 2 D-Lites in slave mode then the flash of light from the 2 canons will trigger the D-lites ?
Seems simple enough even for me (-:
