Yes
Just got myself a nice Elinchrom D-Lite 2Go set. Got it all set up and it comes with two d-lites and 2x sync leads. Obviously when i take a flash reading with a light meter i plug the sync lead into the hotshoe adaptor on my camera (EOS 400D). But what happens when i want to use both of the D-Lites? There is only one sync lead adaptor on my hotshoe so how do i connect up my second light. I know the answer is probably staring me in the face so please put me out of my misery!

If you want to take a reading from a light... you plug the light into the light meter.. not into the camera.
When you press the measure button on the meter.. with the meter at the subject's face... the light will flash... showing you what the reading is.

Most lights will work from another flashing.. so your second light will flash from the first one which is powered by the sync lead and triggered by the light meter.

But if you are talking about making your lights actually flash when you press the shutter release of the camera... then one light connects to the camera and the other will go off by its sensor.

No there must be something wrong somewhere. Okay i have took the light reading from the lamp with the light meter then switched the sync lead to the hotshoe on the camera. This triggers the first lamp to shoot when i take a pic. The second lamp is only connect via the mains to give it electricity, so how does it communicate with the first lamp. It does not trigger automatically when the first lamp flashes.

Just out of curiosity how does it 'sense' the other light being there with no form of physical connection. Also why would they supply me with two sync leads?

There should be a bulb on it... on top. not a bulb... a sensor.

A lead for each light is usual... as you often need to connect to the meter one moment and the camera the next

Still no good.....Only triggers the light which has the sync lead connected to it but wont fire both at the same time?

All sorted now folks. Needed to press the Photocell button on the lamps. When all else fails - Read the instructions...............Just getting me coat........................

No probs... I had a look at the product on the net and was just going to tell you to turn the photocell on..........some have a switch, some are on all the time.

Glad you are sorted.

You did of course read the user manual didn't you. Try switching the photocell on.

Guess you did now!
