So. Ignoring the 1/2 sec handheld exposure, the two above pics are a before and after processing attempt at straightening the lines. Using this lens arrangement I can get maybe 160 degrees, but as you can see here, when I try and straighten things up I lose resolution *big time*. Am I missing something or is this one of those times when you have to live with things as they come?

I'm assuming you are using a near fish eye lens for this result.

What software are you using to straighten the image. I tend to use a combination of Image Trends software and Photoshop's Free Transform function to try and correct bendy verticals. Both of which don't cause a loss of definition.
 
Sort of - one of the .45x add-ons :D

I have PhotoImpact X3, it has a lens distortion function but as I said, the more radical you get with it the worse your definition goes. A bit spent out right now so new software is not really an option unfortunately.

Not used that software so can't comment. You might go to the support site and see if they can help
