Yes
My Sunwayfoto ball head locked up on a shoot this evening forcing me to abandon it.
Checking the internet it seems the problem was the friction screw. Sure enough I managed to loosen it using a butter knife and it's back working. On the basis I don't want to add a butter knife to my kit is there any simple alternative to the Sunwayfoto tool please that will loosen this in the field - I can't find any UK supplier https://www.scvphotoideas.com/2012/08/a-useful-friction-tool-by-sunwayfoto.html

I've got a compass like that, it was a freebie with MBUK magazine back in the day.

How about a 5p piece, might need a bit of grinding down on one edge
I always have one in my bag for the q/r clamp screws

Just a Gerber/Leatherman multitool? Covers every eventuality. One lives permanently in my camera rucksack.

Or a 3LT Tool has a hex and coin slot bit.

Hopefully the dimensions are useful; from sunwayfoto.com/au site

Just be careful with any that have locking blades, as many of these do, especially on city shoots. Locking blades shouldn't be carried without 'good reason' according to the knife laws, and how that is interpreted depends on the discretion of the police and ultimately the view of the courts.
