OK whose got a magic remedy for sunburn???

I've just got in from Japfest and have a face and shoulders like a lobster!!!

I've had a nice cold soak in the shower to take the heat out and regular coatings of Ambre Solair hydrating After Sun, and drinking loads and laods of water....

Anything else that can be done as I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a painful, painful day...

Pour the after sun on thick and just allow it to soak in. I've found drinking milk helps too.

Natural yoghurt (not the fruity type) will take the pain away and reduces the redness.......honest - try it.

its apreciated fella ;)

good shots make it worthwile (coming from the man that stands in the ocean in shorts in the dark to get funky long exposures

Ouch
Hope no one gives you a hearty slap as a greeting.

Jack Daniels in large amounts:D

Doesn't do a thing for the sunburn, but after a while you won't care:lol:

Didn't really expect a lot of sympathy on here did you?

Aloe Vera gel - Boots or The Bodyshop etc will sell it. And in future - use sunscreen!

LOL Didn't expect sympathy, I know better than that now lol :D

Now I have a new problem which will make some of you pee yourselves I'm sure...

The cold shower and oodles of after sun have done the job and don't hurt at all albeit a bit tight but....

Ambre Solairs new after sun say on the front about how it re-hydrates and pro-longs etc, what it doesn't say on the front and only states in small print on the back is that it has a mild self tanning formula :D Soo face and shoulders are alright but my arms are now the colour of a christmas satsuma :bang::bang::bang:

Anyone know how to get rid of satsuma coloured arms or should I be known as David Dickinson for the forenear future?

Oi! David this thread is useless without photos

try a long sleeved shirt

Boots and supermarkets used to do a cucumber aloe vera cream in a light green bottle and it's great stuff.

Sun burn results in skin drying out, you need to get as much moisture back in as possible. Long baths, white cotten tshirts/towels should help.

My missus once fell asleep on a beach down south, she had sun cream on but by the time we'd got back to the accommodation her back and the back of her legs were purple. I was actually considering getting her to the hospital. Spent from 2pm until midnight constantly applying the cucumber cream + one session of hypnosis to aid in the pain and healing. She was burnt for a while but could move around ok the next day with very little pain.

She's never burnt since though!

I second the Natural yoghurt or Calamine lotion.....

Calamine relieves itching by producing what is called a counter-irritation. As calamine evaporates from the skin, it produces a cooling effect. This cooling effect helps to divert your body's attention away from the itching. Due to this cooling effect it is also effective for the relief of sunburn.

Thanks again for all the advise and yes next time will be wearing suncream lol :D :D :D

Have been advised to pop into boots to get some makeup remover (white cream type) and cotton wool balls to try get rid of this orange glow...

Will try anything or will forever be known as the Tango man, if it were any worse I wouldn't be able to take photo's without learning how to counter the orange tinge to everything :D

Ryan, I'm of the non-tanning type and used to burn extremely easily (usually in Feb or March for the first time each year) but discovered a lotion called P20 a couple of years ago. Apply once in the morning and it lasts all day, even through repeated snorkellings. It's not cheap but at the moment, Superdrug are doing it for £35 for 2 bottles.

As for aftersun stuff, well, stay well hydrated for a start. Yoghurt works well but can pong a bit. Whichever cure you use, apply as often as possible to keep it fresh and thick! Hope the sting goes soon and that the peeling isn't too bad.
