Due to a shoulder problem I have, I am looking at using either of the above. Does anyone have any experience of them?

I have looked on the interweb and there are several reviews where it's about honours even however before I blow my £50+ I would rather seek the respected views of the members here....
 
You'll find lots of threads about these if you search, especially the Black Rapid. Actually, they are so similar I think they're produced by the same people, but either way they work the same.

I have the BR R-Strap, and excellent it is too. Expensive for what it is, but brilliant for what it does. Most folks agree :thumbs:
 
I've just bought a blackrapid rs sport. Excellent strap used it for the first time yesterday on a 6 mile hike through varied terrain. Really comfortable with my 550d with grip and 250 lens.
 
I've got a Sun Sniper strap and it works well. More recently, I bought a Split Strap and C-Loop from http://customslr.com/. Essentially, it does the same job, but the contact point (i.e. the bit which actually rests upon your neck/shoulder) is a soft neoprene. Not much in it, but I prefer the Split Strap solution over the Sun Sniper.
 
Black Rapid is ace!!
 
I've had both and found the sun sniper stayed in the same place on my shoulder but the Black Rapid moved back and forth and wore a hole in my jumper.

Black Rapid shoulder pad is designed to move, so you can slide the camera back and front. Which I quite like, but something to consider if you don't want that.

i now have this Black Rapid, and am very happy with it :D:D

at the moment i tend to have my Sigma 18 - 200 attached, so not light and my 40d is gripped
 
I've got a 'Q-strap' from ebay, which is a very good knock off of the Blackrapid ones.
For £15, the quality is excellent. I've not seen a real black rapid one, but I find it hard to see how it could be more secure. All the parts are sturdy and I'm confident I can hang my 40D and 100-400 from it completely safely.
It's usually my philosophy not to scrimp on this kind of thing, but in this case I think it's that the BR straps are just quite over-priced for what they are.
You can get a Q-strap and a black rapid fastenRT-1 (designed for the manfrotto QR plate so you can go to using tripods quickly) for under the price of just a BR RS-7
 
i have a sun sniper pro and bear (this is the one with the steel cable running through it) excellent strap which supports anything from a 10-22 to a 70-200 f2.8 with ease. recommended.
 
I purchased Black rapid rs7 two weeks ago after a fair bit of research and soul searching at the cost :D also considered the Optech version but did not like the idea of so many clips

Having analysed how I carry my kit I feel I made the right decision, its been on all weekend for several hours at a time 40D+300F4=1.4 and can honestly say wish I had done it years ago :thumbs:
 
Another vote for the Sun Sniper Steel strap, very comfortable and reassuring with the steel cable going through it.
 
I've got a Black Rapid RS-7 and find it extremely comfortable - even when carrying my camera with a Sigma 150-500 attached. Not cheap but worth every penny IMO.
 
Another vote for the Black Rapid :thumbs: I thought long and hard before buying due to the cost, but once you use it you'll never go back to a standard strap, it's that good!!

I have the Black Rapid 7 which came with the RS3(?) fastener. I like it, but went out the other day on my bicycle, and had difficulty making the strap short enough so that it was well above my hips (to stop bouncing around whilst riding). I use the bicycle a lot for getting around urban areas, so was a bit disappointed with this. It can be made short, but the strap does not tidy away (unless I'm doing something wrong...).
 
another vote for sunslinger, just to confuse matters google cameraslinger, also looks very good
 
Are you guys attaching the strap to the camera body or the lens tripod mount?, my plan is to attach it the lens(100-400 canon) so that when I need to use a shorter length I can leave the big zoom hanging on the strap for ease of access.
 
Another Sun Sniper +1 here.
Used it on 100 400 both on tripod collar and camera, your plan should work fine, don't forget to recap the lens end though ;)

The lens tripod mount on the 150-500 - it weighs about 4 times more than the camera body. I bought an extra screw fitting for my lens tripod mount to save me having to faff around changing the screw from the camera to the lens.
 
The blackrapid is just so comfy , it's got a curve and sits well, only thing to think about which has not been mentioned - if you have any other bags to a carry , as the straps all get in the way, other pain in unclipping and un screwing for ** tripod - leaving the camera without any strap
 
How are you finding the BlackRapid? I got a RS-7 a while back, and I can whole-heartedly suggest it.
 
I have the sunsniper with steel strap. I did have the rs7 but it kept moving it's shoulder mount. I find the shoulder mount on the sunsniper much better. The camera mounts are much the same the strap itself seems stronger on the sunsniper and it instills more faith when lugging a D3s with a 70-200 2.8. I'm currently on holiday on the island of Porto Santo and have the camera with me most of the time with the sunsniper. It stays put and feels confident in use.
