When we returned from Tenerife to Birmingham airport recently I started to take the wrong suitcase off the belt at luggage claim .We did have a multi-coloured strap around each one but other people had very similar, almost identical straps round their luggage. Sometimes, I heard couples discussing if one of the suitcases coming down the line was theirs or not. So, for next time, we've bought these personalised belts. The one in the photo that looks like the Canon camera strap. Red/black. So..if anyone is thinking they need a better ID for their suitcases this seems a great idea. It doesn't compromise security.. just a name, no address. I saw one couple had a photo of their dog on a tag. We actually bought two tags whilst on holiday but one was ripped off the handle strap by some mechanism whilst it was being loaded/unloaded.

I can't recall which company we got them from but they arrived today and look very smart. It's belt 2-4-6 in the photo.

We until our holiday in 2024 have used old school clamshell Samsonite cases but my OH case had a piano hinge damage so needed to be replaced and she got Samsonite "wheelie style case".

In regard to security & identification straps I bought a couple of PacSafe some years back that have 3 wheel combination locks and are cut proof but in regard to spotting them on the carousel they are yellow with a black stripe.

I have never to date seen any case with the identical strap and especially with my case last year.....did not see another clamshell. Everyone(?) had a wheelie case of one type or another and many looked like clones apart from such straps to 'make it yours'.

I saw a few that had a colourful piece of cloth tied to the pull handles of a few.

I do put external labels on ours that are held under the security strap and 95% of the time the label is still in that place.

we have just bought a place in GC so its ryan air now with the free small box job
flying out next week for 3x weeks and it was £23 for the flight and they wanted £35 extra for a suit case each way each person.

Time was when the flight and airport time were part of the enjoyment of the holiday; nowadays they are something to be endured. Hence one of the reasons we stopped having holidays involving flying. Also, as a pilot, because I've seen the reduction in skills and hours required in order to fill the two seats at the front.
However when I was having to regularly fly for work, I used straps with my name embroidered which were pretty cheap, and a distinctive label wrapped around the handle in such a way that it wouldn't get caught in machinery and was too much bother for the TSA operatives in the USA to remove; on the latter point I also put a sticky label across the zip to be able to tell if the case had been opened between dropoff and collection (because the TSA insisted on being able to open if they wanted to check the contents).

Our cases are distinctively patterned/printed and I've never seen another like them (apart from the bigger ones in the shop!) and we also use distinctive straps and tags on them. We use TSA locks to keep the zips from being opened too easily and sit the locks under the straps.

Years ago we bought some case straps from a mental charity stall at a fair. They say “Adventure Before Dementia”. Never seen another one on a carousel, so ours are always easy to spot.

Me and Mrs Fiend have identical suitcases, and we've had them for quite a few years They are sold by Tripp and are of the hard shell type with wheels ... They're a distinctive colour so can easily be spotted from a distance and also we can identify whose is whose because I wrap the handles in different coloured tape..... I'd guess they've done at least 15 return trips to Thailand with 6 flights per trip. My case has twice suffered wheel damage but I bought some spares (found them on Aliexpress) and they are quite easy to replace.
