I've just booked a vacation to go to South Africa next March 2015 for 3 weeks. Booked a return flights from London to Cape Town. Been to South Africa once, 20 years ago for my good friend's wedding in Durban.

Anyway, what do you recommend me to buy good suitcase/bag for photography. Probably 2-3 lenses including a telefoto lens that I am planning to buy - Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f2.8 ED VR II. Tripod/Monopod plus fit enough for a small laptop and a Galaxy Note...... plus numbers of accessories of course.

I am planning to take photos of landscape including Table Mountain, wildlife animals, Frankoechk's Winelands and maybe a trip to Victoria Falls

It will be my 1st trip bringing photography stuff other than point-to-shoot camera which I did in the past!!
 
For the camera kit, you'll probably be wanting a bag suitable for hand baggage rather than leave it in the hold, so the first thing to do is research your airline's hand baggage restrictions then look for bags that will be small enough to fit the cage (if there is one) but will hold your kit and still be under the weight allowance (if there is one). Most accessories should be OK in the hold baggage but make sure that any that contain Lithium batteries go in hand baggage.
 
Also wear a jacket with BIG pockets so that you can reduce the weight as you board - they don't weigh people yet

Thank you. I'll look into it and thought of rusack also.
 
Who are you flying with? It makes a HUGE difference in terms of how much stuff you're allowed to carry on...

on my own lol. It is not just weight allowance on the plane but also on the coach trip in South Africa

baggage of 8 kg and 55x40x23 cm, Each passenger is responsible for his/her own cabin baggage, which is carried at passenger cabin for free of charge.

8kg you'll have to get a lightweight bag for a laptop, camera and a couple of lenses

Oh. Bad news. Your one item of cabin baggage has a weight limit of 8 kg and maximum dimensions of 55x40x23 cm. That's not terribly generous (but not the worst - for example Virgin Atlantic only allows 6 kg and 56x36x23cm) so make sure you plan your carry-on carefully.

Hence when I went to SA I went with BA, Virgin Atlantic were a joke, even emailed them about photographic gear and they could be more unhelpful, will never fly VA if I was taking photographic gear. BA are the best for hand luggage (at the moment).
 
Damn!!!! I've never weighted my photography gear, but you are telling me that they weigh more than 8 kg!!! Put couple of lenses in my coat pockets???? lol
 
I have a Thinktank Airport essential backpack which actually looks small but gets a shed load in...and It is easy to make it look like it weighs nothing. Snapperstuff are the distributors and no, I don't work for them.
