Ok, call me stupid, but what is the range of a CPL filter?

Obviously you turn it to get less or more polarizing effect, but how many degrees is the range? 90? 180?

Mmm. I dunno. I do know that how much of an effect you get is dependant on the position of the sun, which should be at a right angle to your position.

Didn't really answer your question, did it? :bonk:

It really does vary dependant on the postition of the sun/light source.
It removes most polarised light at 90 degree angles to the sun.

So basically if you make a gun sign with your finger and point it at the sun...point your thumb upwards and rotate your finger like a screwdriver (if that makes sense), thats the arc of best effect for your CPL.

So the indicator of the CPL should be where in relation to the position of the sun (for maximum effect)

Ive never actually looked at the indicator, i literally look throuh the viewfinder and rotate until i get maximum effect

Well thats an approach I never thought of! Doh! I am soooo stupid sometimes!

Mine doesn't have an indicator

I just do what Marcel does.
