Yes
Its not what you're thinking. I'm trying to become a copper *ducks the thrown rotten eggs* two months ago I submited my electronic application got a little message saying it'll take a few months to process your application.

Fair enough they must get lots of applications and have to do security check 'n' stuff.

Today I got a letter from them saying thanks for your application its being processed :D they also sent me a form to fill out, all the questions on it were in the electronic version I sent them :cuckoo: . The form is one of those crud ones that have to filled out in HB pencil so they can scan into a computer. So its taken them 2 months to ask me to write down information they've already got electronically so they can scan it into a computer :bang:. Oh Did I mention its going to take them 10 -12 weeks to process this form

Ah, but is so they know you can actually write :D

I applied for the police a year or so ago, and then found out i've got a duff ear!!
After a couple of trips to a lug ole specialist, it seems my condition was pre birth and the little cluster of grey cells has managed to compensate for it.

According to the earman, if it was post birth, i'd have difficulty forming words and hearing people

So, that kicked the bottom out of that idea......:'(

Still, it's a great reason for not listening to the wife.......what was that dear :naughty:

took me a minute to work out how to write my name to be honest.

First time I'd seen it asked for in a way that makes it take up 2/3 a side of A4

Stick in... and when you have been in a while ask to be an evidence gatherer and guess what.... they give you a personal issue gucci Dslr and some nice lenses. You even get paid to go and take very interesting 'portrait' and 'action shots' ;)

lol

I applied for the Specials a few years ago, as I have had a lifelong ambition of joining the police.

However, I fell at the colour blindness test hurdle, requiring 7/10 correct replies, and getting 6.
I wrote to the force doctor asking him for 'another chance at it', which he agreed to...I took the test with his nursey assistant, 3 times, and kept getting 6. So I went into see the doctor and he said "Pfft, you'll do for me"..

Only for me to get through all the PIRT and everything, and interview and waiting for attestation date, when I got a letter saying I was to wait 18 months, reapply and they would let me in. IIRC I had just gotten over a chest infection, and with me having asthma as a kid, it was a "no probs in 18 months and you're in"...

My interest kinda waned after that and I never reapplied :(
Still would like to join though, although I don't think I'd have the confidence now, less confidence than I used to have.

I think you're all nutters! I don't envy a copper on a Saturday night in Bristol city centre!

Good to see that the police maintain a standard all over the world, guys:bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

God! Stuff that... Specials? All the cr*p thy put up with and not even getting paid? Are they mad?
Plus as a copper you'll lose all your mates and have to rely on other coppers for conversation.
And who wants that?

Personally, I'd rather walk through Tel-Aviv in an SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer's uniform.
