Whilst trying to get a good shot of my very excitable dog, she jumped at me and stuck her big wet nose right on my lens !

How do I clean it ..... the lens no the dog !
 
Lens cloth you get from glasses cases will be fine or you can get some lens wipes quite cheap, i get mine from Superdrug, 24 wipes for 99p.
 
Use the spray stuff from opticians for specs, and a lens cloth/tissue to wipe it. Then take care of the dog.........
 
Look at the end of the lens, go HUUUUUUUUUHHH at it and wipe it with your T-shirt. The inside of course, you can't be too careful. :)

I see your problem - you are in jumping range of your dog.
Never a good plan :-) 100mm + always works a treat. and a lenshood - even at distance they can be tricky buggers.

oh, cleaning. good huff on the lens then a cloth (I approve of the inside of tshirt suggestion :) )
