So my stupid action this morning was to leave my bag which contained my MacBook Air on the train. I realised this at the tube platform.

Quickly ran out, and into the train station. The inspector has been ever so helpful trying to trace the train, which carriage I was in and all the details.

They missed a couple of stations unfortunately, but it was confirmed to have been found at the third attempt which was about 15 stations away. Absolutely fantastic effort. He is travelling with me to help collect it.

Great people, and great passengers onboard the train to leave it alone.

I've got it in my hands :) such lovely people on the other side as well. They even got me a cup of coffee and kept on apologising for not intercepting it earlier. Despite it being my fault and their every attempt.

Definitely gives me a warm feeling. Considering I'm another hour away from London now I think I better take the rest of the day off.

phew, lucky! :D

this is why i am completely OCD about making sure i have everything when getting on and off the train to work.

im always amazed by the people that leave their laptop etc out and lean over to a complete stranger and say "can you keep an eye on this while i go to the loo". especially on the stopping service.

i guess im just paranoid :D

It's great to hear a good news story instead of all the negative stuff.

There are lots of good people around, with lots of good stuff happening every day, it's just that the good news gets buried in the other stuff.

Thanks for posting your story.

Chris

Fully agree, the majority of people are lovely. Including myself :p

Same like on forum meets, I've met some on here, and other places. I'm also the type who will chat to a stranger.

Most people are just nice regardless of their background. They will be different but all have generally the best intentions.

It depends a little on the situation. I agree on the stopping service, but if it is a big intercity and she is cute looking then I don't mind :)

I know I kept trying to run, but it didn't work :p
:D

I'm glad that you got a positive result.
Things like that restore your faith in human nature

I'm home now, couldn't be bothered to do go to work. And having a nice cup of tea. Bliss on this cold grey day.

You are a prime candidate for a job with MI5 or some gov. dept. They are forever leaving laptops etc. on trains.

Ha, but I've recovered mine before the press got hold of it ;)

I went to watch the motor cross bike race at Weymouth about 10 years ago. I went on my bike and after the racing I went back too my bike and MAG guy who was running the bike parking area came up to me and gave me my keys that I had left in the ignition.

That was lucky. All it could have taken would be one scrote to completely ruin your day/wallet. Great outcome (y)

Another great reason why you should never use public transport, even if it ended well this time.
Whilst I'm not a big fan of public transport, it could have happened in a car and left the bag in sight etc. To me this was more about the great and wonderful people. The people from the train operating company especially, and those that operated the stations, and those passengers that were on the train. A good news story about humanity, which lets face it include the vast majority of us in my opinion. Yes many a time we seem to have this desire to focus on the few misguided ones.

So true. It's like when we have a bad meal. We tell 20 people it was bad yet when we have a good one only tell a couple.

Most people are decent folk.

Or so you think!

Steve.
if the press can get past the encryption in the time taken to retrieve it, and avoided the tracking mechanism to be activated by powering it up, and leave my session where I left it, then I'd love to be put in touch with them and offer them a far more lucrative position opposed to journalism.
