I would like to set up a small studio so I can practise portraits and lightling techniques at home. However being new to photography I don't know where to start. To hinder things I am also working to a tight budget so can anyone recommend any kit that may be suitable.

Like I say I'm a complete novice as need as much help as possible.

If you're serious, start as you mean to go on with some decent quality entry-level studio heads. Lencarta, or the Elinchrom D-Lites are very good from £125.

To keep the budget down, get one head with stand, a couple of brollies and a reflector. It's all you need for basic stuff (or even quite advanced work) and great for learning.

Build from there :)
