I would like to hire a studio (Hampshire) for a few hours so that I can do a project I have in mind.

I have never done any studio work and the whole lighting thing.

I have my own camera (Canon 5D2) which I will use so I just need the studio along with the lighting supplied.

Also, I would like someone on hand to offer assisstance, now I could ask someone on here who is local, lunch and traval costs covered (maybe a nice pub lunch :) or do some studios offer their help as well.

Its important that the pictures are taken by me but with the help of someone who knows what they are doing lol

Has anyone ever done this before ?

Any help would be good

Paul

I'd let the studio know that it's your first session and ask if there is someone there to show the ropes. If it's like a studio here they will be very helpful and show you how to work the lights and give you a quick run down on every thing that's available.
Give them a ring. I'm sure they will want your return business so the better the pictures the more likely that you'll return.

Thanks Tony, I guess it's just making the first leap lol

I did my first studio shoot in Bracknell last Friday. Spoke with the owner before and he was great at helping with the fundamentals and assisting my ideas. Will post pics later. It's scarlet door studios btw.

I'm in Basingstoke and doing the same thing in a couple of weeks.

A group of us are going, I spoke to the studio owner and he is going to give us a tutorial, then he has sorted a model for us to shoot after. I would second the person who said speak to a studio owner, in my case he has been more than helpful

He name was not Bill by any chance ?

exactly what they said. I did the same, spoke to a studio owner, arranged it with anither photographer here to split costs. Found a couple of models who were tfp and turned out to be really good, found a make up artist who was also lookig to trade time for pictures and off we all went.
The studio owner was more than helpful in regards to lighting etc. It took a few call to arrange it all but it ended up being great value for money as i learnt loads and got some great shots.

I would simply say have a ring round, put out a shout on here, look on TFP models for any willing participants. If you have the cash then pay for models as you wont have to direct tem as much as they know what they are doing.

I think i was lucky with my models as not all of them are as reliable and experienced.

Let me know how you get on as im always up for studio stuff. Im essex so not too far. I have been trying to organise a few shoots near me but the weather is bloody freezing for outdoor stuff at the moment.

No, I opted for a Studio in Wade Rd as it was close to work. Two weeks to go and really looking forward to it :)
