Student Research (Image Editing)

I am in my dissertation year of Computer Science.

For my final project I have chosen to do an "easy image editor"

The idea is to offer the functionality of photoshop for beginners.

I was wondering if you would be kind enough to share your input as to the processes and/or effects you would like to see automated as macros in my program.

I will be more than happy to share a link to the online applet version if anyone wants to play with it

I would think a good working auto levels and auto colour correction that work would be a good start.
