Hello

Recently bought a RX100M3 and not liking the colors from it so much. I'm used to Olympus colours (which skin tones where great) and not finding Sony ones that pleasing.

However, I'm using CO8 I can tweak them to the way I like but for the life of me, carn't get my skin tones correct. I find the sony renders them a muddy brown and skin looks kind of plastic. LR does a better job & better rendering of Hair. CO8 even using the colour skin tone tool eventually make them look reasonable, but no way am I doing this for every photo I take.

Might try to manually set WB (using the white cup technique) and see if this has a better effect. Otherwise little unsure of my RX100, which I'm other wise very much enjoying.

Any hints tips?? Thx!

Have you tried making a custom colour profile, say using a ColorChecker passport? That can help to get consistent colour between bodies.

no I haven't. Just a bit scared of spending another £70. Is it worth while?

Actually all you need is a colour calibration target (the SpyderChecker24 can be had for under £40) as Adobe provide free DNG profile editor software to make profiles with. You could just borrow a target if you know someone with one or conversely buy one and sell it on. Have a look on eBay or the classifieds, they come up from time to time.

Super thanks for that, I'll get one. How actually do you make a profile and is it the calibration target usable with CO8? (how do I use it with that??

Thx!

Adobe's process is fairly straightforward. There are several tutorials etc on the web, here's one that's pretty good: http://photography.tutsplus.com/tut...stom-color-profile-for-your-camera--cms-24339

I'm not a Capture One user personally and the process doesn't look as simple. Capture One uses ICC profiles which are different to how Adobe does things. I did find this link on the web, but it looks more of a subjective way of doing things [but might work well for your skin tone issue]: http://blog.phaseone.com/tweak-the-default-color-look-of-your-camera/

Just to update this thread. Bought a SpyderChecker24 for £33 and have tested it. Very pleased with the results, as makes things much more neutral. I need to bump up the saturation a little but the colours in my mind much better. Finally can start using my RX100M3 without fear! (Will try to post some images when time)
