Hi

Bought a 120cm strip box to stick on one of my lencarta strobes.
It's a good size and comes with a grid.

Tried some side lighting a model lying full length on a bed as well as kneeling up and lit from side on with a bit of reflector.

The pix look really nice, however it's not quite as "narrow" as I think I want.
I can sort the look easy enough in ps5 but not sure why it didn't get as tight as I wanted.
It was in a bedroom, so I guess it was just a case of not enough room to move it a little further back to get the right angle, but fun being able to tilt it horizontally and stuff to change the spread of light.

anyone any tips on using one of these :)

What i will say, the strip box doesnt make a great main light :) perfect as a fill or to highlight, but a bit ...... flat ...... i find as the only light (maybe the grid).

I use a strip box for some low light shots. If the light is too wide just turn the light to the side a little and the subject sees a narrower opening or alternatively use some black wrap (black tin foil) to cut half the light.

Good idea.
I think i'm going to try using it to the side and behind the model as a sort of kicker to cover hair and sure, with a big softbox in front, that should look good.

Its a Garry Edwards tip :D

Maybe I should patent these tips, or come out with my own version of a little red book of my words of wisdom:lol:

Seriously though, it's all down to your own imagination and willingness to experiment. There are always different ways of using different tools, but up to a point they are dependent on space and personal preference, so it's difficult to give any useful advice other than to experiment.
