Good evening,

My partner came along to my riding lesson earlier and tried recording some videos while I was in the indoor school.

Watching the videos on the camera they look very good (apart from my actual riding!) but when I watch them in Aperture they are terribly distorted :cuckoo:

Here is a screenshot to show what I mean:

Is this just an issue with Aperture?

The camera is a Sony RX100 recording in AVCHD 50i 17M(FH).

Would I be best recording in MP4 1440x1080 12M?

Have you tried watching them using iMovie or QT?

It looks like an interlacing issue.
The lowish light in the interior scene won't be helping.
I guess it's only when objects are 'moving' as you pan.

I don't use aperture, but in Premier you'll get this if you try to import an interlaced source into a progressive project and not change it to interlaced when prompted, as it will merely de-interlace it instead.

That looks like a de-interlaced source to me. You shot it in 50i... so make sure your project is set the same. Don't de-interlace it if you want it to play correctly... or record in progressive, not interlaced.

Ahhhhh I see!

They play fine when viewing outside of aperture and after reading up on it it sounds like an interlacing issue.

Thank you guys! Very helpful!
