When cleaning out one of my older camera bags about a year ago, I found a red laser gun sight and it brought back memories. 20+ years ago I was having problems getting my early model digital camera to focus in low light areas, and I had modified this gunsight to make it fit a hot/cold shoe on the camera.. The red laser dot on the subject gave the camera a focus point and it was easy to remove the dot in the photos in post. I just had to explain to my subjects that I wasn't pointing a gun at them, and this was just a way to get the camera to auto focus correctly. Today, my Godox flash control transmitter has a cross hatch laser light built into it that performs this function, and turns off before the camera shutter opens. It's only on during the focus cycle of the camera, if I should need to turn this function on. The laser gunsight hasn't been used in a very long time, but it still worked. It's now sitting on a shelf along along with my antique and out dated cameras and accessories. I have no idea how it managed to stay hidden in that old bag for so many years.
