strange reactions

Why do people look at me as if I'm carrying a machete instead of a camera, you would think I was about to hack someones head off, crazy world we live in:bonk:

Hi Strandville , yes your spot on ,I can go out with a big medium format camera on a big heavy tripod not given a second look.
the other day I was walking around Edinburgh with a Nikon F100 with wide angle lens and the battery pack fitted ,bloody hell you would think I had MASS MURDERER ,tattoed on my forehead . I walked past a bustop and the people all turned and watched me walk past as if the blood was still wet on my camera . Nowt as queer as folk.

I have great sympathy for them! I hate it when someone points a camera in my direction! one of the reasons I started taking a lot of photos was so I did not have to be in any

Try going round with a plastic camera covered in tape that makes a noise every time you advance the film on, the looks I get are priceless

The funny thing is if I go out with a compact few give me a second glance, but my A200 must look like a killing machine

What bugs me is when you visit some places and folk start pulling their kids close. That's modern television for you, where kids get swallowed by cameras and TV sets and can only be released by some geezer who takes people inside a blue box and disappears in front of your eyes......

im going to disagree with that!

took my lomo and 35mm film camera to paris and no one batted an eyelid but my mate got hassle shooting with her digital?!

maybe thats just the french!

I get this I walk around and people stare and they only look at you, They probably are used to seeing little farty point and shoots so wehn they see what they consider a pro camera they are interested or afraid.

Bah! the reaction I got was as if I had a small nato-backed force behind me when I shot a guy on a bicycle (thinking I stole his soul ) -see the fish-pun-filled thread on here (will post if i can find it!)
