Hi Everyone,

Just a quick question. I've got a straight flash bracket (that allows me to mount my flashgun to the left hand side of the camera rahter than on top)

But i'm struggling to see where it would be useful? I understand that having the flash on the lens' axis will cause for hotspots on the face and harse shadows, etc.

But how is having it 20cm to the left helping that? It's still ETTL via the TTL cable but was just wondering what difference it would make?

Is it ideally suited for indoor flash photography? Or outdoor fill flash?

Any help/ information would be greatly appreciated.

its a simple way to get the flash off camera without it having to be carried in your hand or being placed on a light stand so it is useful in the "run 'n' gun" situations where you don't have time to set up light stands, such as weddings.
 
Ahh fair enough, sounds good to me. But at weddings in the reception I tend to use a Stoften use the flash on camera at a 45 degree angle and fire away?

Will this bracket give me better/ similar results?
Which would you opt for?
 
What you need to do is hammer the bracket so that it bends and the head of the flash is level with the centre of your lens.
 
So that they are horizontally aligned?

Rather than vertically aligned as it would be on the hotshoe?

If that's the case what difference will this make compared to bounced flash?
