Hi.
This may have been asked time and time but storing lenses.

Am I to beliv that putting them front facing down is the best way? I have a PELE case and when my 70-200 is on the body I just leave it laying flat as you would.

But whne the 70-200 or my 16-35 are not in use I tend to keep them in a dry cupboard. Is laying front lens facing down the best way? It makes sense as there would be less weight to put pressure on any internals.

Why have you chosen NSFW header?
I have always stored my longer lenses in my camera bag. I do have some older film era primes etc that are stored upright in my cupboard.

I doubt it makes much difference but the crucial thing is they must be in relatively low humidity, I'd be wary of leaving them in a dark cupboard or bag for months and discovering fungus after a year or two. Strong daylight also helps stop fungus but I don't suppose they want to be in full sun for long.
I have a small dry cabinet which comes into its own in summer when a lot of houses can be a bit damp with no heat on and windows open.

Yes so just let them be then. Easy to over cook these things.
Not sure why it was NSFW, is that nudity? ha

This!
Life is too short for worrying about the nitty gritty of lens storage. Just don’t leave them anywhere daft and you’ll be golden :D

It depends whether storage means several months or a few weeks like through heart of winter I suppose.

I keep mine standing up in the case...the idea is that some zoom lenses the barrel comes out and i don't want to put pressure on it, but then I put the entire case standing up so they all end up being stored sideways anyway....

So....sideways.

I keep mine in biscuit / chocolate tins lined with bubble wrap and with a couple of those little moisture grabbing silicon gel sachets.

What do you do with the chocolate Alan?
;)

I live in a high humidity area so I put my bodies and lenses in electronic dry cabinets to keep mold away.

I must admit my storage facilities are a bit lax. Most of them stay attached to my numerous cameras, or are tucked away in drawers. One or two are a bit fungusy, but then they were when I got them.

My camera and lenses stay in my camera bag when not in use. I've always stored them like this and never had any issues. If they've been out in the cold or damp weather I leave them out for a couple of days in a warm room with the front lens cap off to fully dry them out before putting them away

I have an electrical dry cabinet. Whilst I appreciate the risk is low of mould in our climate it can and does happen, I paid £100 for a 40L cabinet. People spend more on bags!
