Apologies if you all know how to do this already, but I only just discovered it last night and thought I'd share. I did a quick search here on TP and couldn't see a thread about this.
Now I'm not suggesting that everyone wanders around with the manuals for their bodies and flashguns in their bag the whole time, but I would imagine that I am not alone in doing so for the first few months, whilst getting used to some of the more obscure custom settings, icons, etc.

- Make sure you have downloaded and installed the free iBooks app from the iTunes store.
- Use Safari to find the manual for your camera on the manufacturer's web page.
- Open the pdf of the manual.
- Click anywhere on the screen and a little black box should come up with the text "Open in iBooks". Click that.
- You have now downloaded the manual and can view it even when you're not connected to a wireless network or 3G.
