Apologies if you all know how to do this already, but I only just discovered it last night and thought I'd share. I did a quick search here on TP and couldn't see a thread about this.

  1. Make sure you have downloaded and installed the free iBooks app from the iTunes store.
  2. Use Safari to find the manual for your camera on the manufacturer's web page.
  3. Open the pdf of the manual.
  4. Click anywhere on the screen and a little black box should come up with the text "Open in iBooks". Click that.
  5. You have now downloaded the manual and can view it even when you're not connected to a wireless network or 3G.

Now I'm not suggesting that everyone wanders around with the manuals for their bodies and flashguns in their bag the whole time, but I would imagine that I am not alone in doing so for the first few months, whilst getting used to some of the more obscure custom settings, icons, etc.

Hehe I think being a novice I would love to have my manual On my I phone! Great tip thx!

On my iPhone I have the PDF manuals for my cameras stored in the iFiles app along with text documents with settings for different scenarios. Handy if my memory fails me. It's a handy app as you can up/download to/from it wirelessly.

Nikon have an app for that - check itunes app store.

Personally, I don't use it, as goodreader does everything I need.

I've just found Adobe reader already on my phone and I'm just bluetoothing my manuals over now. What a great idea, thanks OP.
