Right decided on the camera I would like. Went to a big Jessops store and handled a few and liked the feel and layout of the Nikon D5000 to start with.

I went with no money so I wouldn't be tempted to buy anything silly.
The guy there was trying to get me to buy the store warranty/insurance....about £80 for 3 years. The Nikon warranty is for 2 years so I would like to know is the store one worth paying for or should I just say no?

I really didn't budget for it but have enough to do IF it is worth getting.

Ta I am going ti afternoon to get the camera so any replies would be fab...

Cheers

extended warranties are for mugs.

EU law gives you 2 years on electronic items for free. In 3 years, the D5000 will be worth less than the £80 you'd pay on the warranty anyhow.

Indeed, plus the fact you will probably want to sell it before 2 years anyway once you get the upgrade bug :D i've never had an extended warranty for anything, like Andy said it's a mugs game, there are other laws that cover this eventuality ;)

Some warranty's also cover accidental damage which the manufactures does not of course so it may be worth a look, but you can shop around & fin the same for less

Ta Folks...

Kind of what I was thinking but wasn't 100% sure...:)
That helps a lot...

"shop around & find the same for less "

What sort of insurance would that be n where would I look?
Hubby has always bought into the extended warranty bit...and this is my first BIG money buy (apart from my car) so any tips would go well.

Thanks

Any decent home content insurance offers this already and will cover everything in the house for less than the cost of an extended warranty for a single item.
