Hi, can someone tell me what type of external hard drive would be most suitable for holding photos. What should I look for? Just amount of memory, or are there other elements that would make one 50GB drive, for example, more appealing than another? apart from cost.

no idea on that but i would get more than 50G, those photos take up lots of room

Having bought one that doesn't, I've come to the conclusion that being able to interogate the device to see exactly what's been downloaded/stored would be very useful.

That's a good point. You don't say that you wanted something that can download the card from your camera Workshy but at 50gb I kinda assumed that's what you meant.

Or did you mean 500gb to plug into the puter?

These things are getting cheaper all the time... only a few months ago I bought 2, 500GB harddrives at £85 each and thought they were a bargain

Good point... out in the field 50GB is massive; at home, tiny

More info needed for a recommendation - but frankly in the field I just use more cards and have a laptop in the car
