I need some help in finding a new stool for football and rugby. My hip is getting bad again and my little fishing stool is to low for me. I've got a camp chair type thing which is the perfect height but the arms slimit my range of swivel if you see what I mean. Can anyone recommend something?

Thanks

I use this Kelly and its much better for me than the tripod stools, doesnt sink into soft ground either

Sorry, forgot to say, it needs a back on it as well. Oops but thanks for the reply Gary. How tall is that one?

Cheers, that seems like the same height as my camp chair thing, might bear that one in mind if I can't find one with a back. I do ideally need a back on it though

Fishing chair might be an option "JRC" or something, they are normally lightweight and very comfortable…ill see if I can dig a link out,

Thanks for the link, it looks too low to the ground though. Husband has measured my camp chair that I can easily get up from and it's about 45cm.

It's got arms though and due to my hip problems being all the way down to my knee, I can't risk knocking my knee on the arm, if you see what I mean.

Sorry, I'm so fussy but I have to be with this, I hope you like a challenge :D

 might be an option, cheers

Not really much help but I had the first one Gary posted right at the top of the thread... was great till it dumped me to the ground during pre season lol.

Use a Peli now as a stool which isn't much use either but appreciate how hard it is to find the right one.

Just had to convert but around the same (6 foot 4 tall and quite stocky)... ripped along the seam so I'm just putting it down to a poorly made one rather than weight issue (keep telling myself that)

if we weigh about the same and you say at 6ft 4 inch youre quite stocky you can imagine what i look like at 5 ft 7 inch:lol:

I would say at least you don't have as far to fall if yours breaks but I guess you wouldn't lol

I used the same stool as Gary......until Sunday when I heard a ripping sound and then found myself flat on my back in fits of laughter as the seat ripped along the seam, and its only about 6 months old.

Same as Neil and AFC as the stitching failed on mine at an Oxford Utd game and caused a loud cheer, but I now use my Peli case to sit on and a similar stool as my laptop table.

When I read the headline my first thought was get a plastic bag and sit on it.

Then I read the reason why you need a stool. Ooops. My reaction comes from starting to do a bit of football photography. First, I shot from head height, then I read some tip bits on here and the comments were to get low. Low, as in kneeling down was doing in my lower back.....but its much more comfortable sat on my backside - although you are not as mobile.

Try a collapsable chair with a drinks holder (any alcohol)....it helps numb the pain - they are about £12(ish) for 2 at Go Outdoors....good luck

Both made my week... at least I know it's not just me :)

Ignore, clicked send instead of 'e'

Thanks for all your responses. There's a few there for me to look into. I'm kind of keen on the tripod fishing/hiking one. Looks like it will meet all my needs and won't add much to the load either.

I'd like to say that I too have fallen off the back of my stool through tears and splits but alas, mine was through pure clumsiness of not looking as I sat down and missing it completely. Several occasions now have had me with my feet in the air with most of the team looking on and cheering!

is a shooting stick too basic..?

£26 at Amazon

I have a shooting stick but it doesn't give the support I need. I have to have something that I can get off my feet

Have you seen the ones that are more like a shooting stool, complete with small back support? They're trilegged.

No, I haven't - have you got a link? But a shooting stool is not ideal as I've said above

Nope, no link. I just remember seeing them in use by (no offence intended) some of the more unsteady on their pins types when shooting.
I'll see if I can dig something out when I'm at a PC next.

It's not so much I'm unsteady but can't put weight on it for more than 10 minutes so need something I can sit on. Plus the shooting stick I've got makes me just a little shorter and heavens forbid I don't shoot sport from a low perspective ;)
