Hi All,

Please can you keep a look out for the following that was stolen from my house today. (Nottingham City Centre) The police have been informed and they have all of the serial numbers. They hit my house and another down the street less then 5 minutes apart :(
I was lucky as I disturbed them so only lost the stuff below and not everything, though losing this lot isn't helpful.

Nikon D200 + MB-D200 Grip + 2 x origianl Nikon batts
2GB Sandisk extreme II
Nikon 20mm 2.8
Nikon 50mm 1.8
Sigma 10-20mm 4-5.6

********. Gutted for you, hope you manage to sort it :(

Sorry to hear that :shake:, hope you were insured ok.

Feel sorry for you mate , sign of the times i think its going to get worst good luck, hope you get your gear back.

I had the same thing happen last April.
Luckily all they took was my camera bag with my complete kit, providing you are insured it can be replaced.
BTW the police recovered almost all of my camera gear after the insurance company had paid out....and they didn't want it back.

I trust your place wasn't trashed?

Sorry to hear about the theft. If there's one thing I really hate it's theft. The gaul of someone to think it's ok to break into someones home or car and steal things they have worked hard to get just because they are too lazy to get off their ar*** and earn a living really makes me angry. Hope your stuff is recovered and the thieves are caught although punishment for crimes today are a joke. Ok rant over.

Hope you get this sorted. :(

What are some people like? Glad you are ok though and hope it turns up soon.

so sorry to hear that hope you get your gear back

Hopefully you should be insured in some way but it still isnt nice having some toerag nicking it
Hope you get it all back mate

It is likely to go to some scumbag fence and end up in a different part of the country or change hands for a fraction of its worth down the pub. At least if you have home contents insurance the new for old bit will kick in and your spangly new D300 + grip + lenses all with another 2 years warranty will help to make you feel better. Just make absolutely sure that you include EVERYTHING that went missing to the police and don't miss out any of those little bits and pieces like straps, filters, spare batteries, lens bags etc etc.......

Did you have the serial numbers etc ? Hope they catch the drug riddled scumbag. :bat::bat::bat::bat::bat::bat::bat::bat:

Sorry to hear that. Keep a look out on ebay, ya never know, they might just be stupid enough to put it there.

Set up a automatic notification search on ebay. It may be a month or more before shifting it on there...

Pubs, car boot sales, weekend markets. Could end up anywhere.

Criminals are the scum of the earth and they need erasing - permanently.

I feel your pain!
In the last 2 years we have been robbed.

1st time they just stole my misses laptop, and that was the only PC we had at the time as we had only just moved in.
2nd time they stole our bikes from the shed. Annoying as its my only mode of transport beside my misses car!

Hope you get things sorted mate

Bastids :bat:

Might it be worth posting the serial numbers here so we can all keep an eye out for the stuff?

This stuff really what annoys me about the UK these days. Hope you get the stuff back or you can claim on the insurance.

Little f*****s!

feel for you.

Sorry to hear about this. Live in Nottm as well.

Last year a teenage scumbag smashed my truck window & grabbed my Sat-Nav while I was unloading. Got hold of him & gave him a "smack" only for his mate to come at me with a Stanley Knife.

I am not anti police or anything but they were totally dis-interested.

Just an update to this.

I have been contacted by Nikon today to inform me that someone is trying to register the details of the D200, 50mm and 20mm. The details have been provided to the Police and they are now in contact with Nikon so, may actually get this one resolved and some of my kit back.

Excellent news!

I'm amazed anyone registers used gear, let alone stolen used gear (albeit unknowingly)!

Nice one, lets hope you get it back.

Great news! Pity the fool who bought it thinking it was legit...

I suspect it will be an innocent third party, though i'm hopeful they will be be able to trace it back to who ever stole it as that was the third time my house had been hit so would be nice to get someone for at least one of the times.

Excellent news! .........but I'd not be suprised if the person trying to register them purchased them 'innocently' off fleabay.......so they could be in for a nasty shock.

All my Nikon gear purchased either new of used is registered with Nikon..When I sold my D70s I removed it from my list, you would be amazed I guess at how few people do register their kit....And you see how helpful having it recorded can be!

Could have been any of us!.....I suspect it was a car-boot sale purchase.

Sounds promising, feel sorry for the innocent guy who may lose out on £££ though

Receiving stolen goods = not quite as innocent as you might assume!

Surely buying second hand one always has at the back of one's mind... "this might be stolen". One has to assess the seller as much as the kit.

I would wager this was sold on at a bargain price to someone not overly endowed with brain cells. He deserves whatever he gets. Nothing would get stolen if there was no market for stolen goods.

If you bought something on ebay and paid the normal price would you expect to get locked up :shake:

would be nice to have some justice done
I would say poor bloke if there is a person in the middle registering kit he's bought in good faith but I've had conversations with mates where he'll happily buy stuff in pubs from friends because "it's not his problem and students get loads of money and it'll all be replaced".
good luck with getting your stuff back!
