Stolen in Manchester... 7D + Tamron 17-50mm

My beloved and most cherished Canon 7D stolen from the students union building on Oxford Road.

Also stolen Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 + 8gb Ultra 2 CF

Also stolen is an Ortlieb waterproof toploader.

Seems like an inside job...taken from a locked office, no sign of forced entry.

I feel for you as I've had kit stolen before too.

Hope you've got some insurance - or your parents have.

Please call the police too.
 
In a locked office, the location's insurance might cover it, no?
 
There was a 7d and 17/50 been sold on Gumtree last week near you. It was less than £500 i think
trying to locate the add, but cannot find it. Maybe Gumtree could help? tried to contact you when i saw the advert.

Add is down now but luckily still catched by google, seems very very dodge and seems like you may be on to one here £200 for a 7D and 17-50 and item is also from manchester.
 
100% that was it .

You must be a detective ! I thought it was the "New" Gumtree software that was stopping me from finding it.

Just did a quick google with 7d 17-55 gumtree and was up there, sadly live advert had gone but as i say luckily google catched it.

Hopefully OP has some luck in getting his gear back, luckily this "George" has left a mobile number, weather this will still work or not is another matter.
 
I can't see him still having the camera, bet he shifted it the same day, but I'm sure the OP's insurance company and mr plod will be interested.
 
Thieving gypsy *******s. I'd die if my gear got stolen. And so would the knob who stole it...

I had that ad removed as it was a malicious ad showing my name and my mobile number.

I've also got the IP address of the person who placed the first ad on gumtree which matches an IP of a visitor to my site on the morning the first ad was placed. Coincidentally it also matches the IP of a member on here.
 
Ouch. I sense somebody's going to be getting a spanking.

Very very interesting, was tempted to give the number a blast but now i know its yours i wont.

Can remove adds from my posts if you want and just pm them member so your mobile doesn't get any more exposure ?
 
Already done :)

I did get a few calls which was obviously inconvenient but not that much of an issue. Put it like this, it's nothing like the inconvenience coming someone else's way.

Someone did call my mobile tonight at about 10.30 or so, number was withheld :shrug:

Oooooooh, someone's in trouble!

But I'm confused. Does that mean the person who stole the camera is a member here, or someone saw this thread, and posted the ad? Very confused indeed!
 
I get the feeling that dod might've upset somebody on here (very unlike dod if you ask me ;)), and that somebody is trying to setup dod to take the blame, hence them posting that ad.

Of course, I may be way off. :)
 
Will be a very interesting turnout i think, hopefully though the OP gets his gear back.

It's your call but I would be all for naming and shaming them on here and then banning there ass

To start with I thought it was just malicious but I hadn't seen this thread at that time so your explanation is probably closer to the truth than I'd realised :)

The biggest problem I had was getting the info from Gumtree for corroboration. They weren't prepared to speak to me. They were however prepared to speak to my wife's cousin's hubby who's CID in Aberdeen :D

Keith, I might, if forced to, however I'd be just as happy for this nonsense to stop.

Just for clarity, it was the first ad I had removed. it doesn't read like that above. Gumtree obviously removed the next one using their own discretion
 
also I feel for you with stolen kit mate

I thought I had had my 50d stolen once and until I found out all was well I was v stressed/upset
 
:dummy: Was also very confused. Have been away in Scotland for a week and came back to this. Very confusing, but I'm still without any leads on my camera which looks like it's gone gone fone!

All sorted now on the Gumtree front . Seems like someone was being a complete pillock with Dod.
 
Hope you get your camera back and at no other cost than the inconvenience to your photography
