Has anyone got an account or engage in the purchasing of stocks and shares?

I'm interested in putting some money into something long term, but it just seems extremely complicated in doing so.

Has anyone profited from an ISA account or investing in stocks?

I don't invest in many individual stocks but I do have quite a bit in Tracker funds. These are easy to buy in an ISA and have low annual costs. You can buy them quite easily through fund supermarkets. All of mine have the income re-invested or are accumulation funds. If you can hold on to them during the ups and downs you should see a profit, most "advisors" suggest 5 years minimum but I would say 10 years is a better timescale.
All the major investment firms have advice on their websites, Fidelity, L&G, etc. I hold all mine with Fidelity at the moment, they sell funds from numerous other companies such as M&G, HSBC, Gartmore, L&G etc. as well as their own funds.

I have money in an ISA. I think I've invested around £5k over 10 yrs and it's now worth around £8k. But for me, it's just a way of storing cash for the long term.

I just get bored with financial things so I struggle to take an interest even though I should.

I have a Hargreaves Lansdown Stocks and Shares ISA - very easy to set up and use. Dabble a little bit in shares and funds.
