Sticky rubber

A few years ago i bought a Giotto tripod with a pan head never used it until yesterday , only the rubber on the head has gone really sticky , any body have any idea how to cure it or what to cover it with.

Isopropyl alcohol and some cotton buds. I've used this a few times on old cameras that have the sticky back and it takes a little time but it definitely works, just pop a squirt onto a bud and wipe away.

just fixed this issue with some of my studio lights & remote controls.

I tried lots of products but the one that made it a doable job is Isopropol alcohol. literally works awesome. I used a micro fibre cloth.

Apparently, the makeup of the rubber causes the stickiness - was soft touch before.
