Sticking prints in album

Yes
I've had a long look on the internet and a quick look on here but can't find what I need.

A client has asked for a traditional wedding album, which I normally don't offer, so I am not sure what's the best adhesive to use. I suspect the double-sided tape or stick glue from poundland wouldn't be ideal...!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

When we used to do traditional matted albums, we used acid free tape to stick the prints to the mounts. The mounts attach to the album using double sided tape (usually supplied pre taped).

The tricky bit is getting the mounts in straight, post bound albums and spare mounts make this less stressful, large expensive bookbound albums make it a job requiring nerves of steel.

Having counted how longit took me to do a genuine album, I'd say it's cheaper to have the album company do it, unless you're charging very little for your time (there can be 3hrs+ of assembly for a reportage type album).

For mounts with a backing board I'll use double sided adhesive.

Using this on just a print placed on a 'thinish' page can cause the print to lift and looks horrible.

For mounting to sheet like this I'll use 3M Photo Mount. Spray back of print and place on page. I find it best to work from the middle outwards.

Works for me.;)

Thanks Phil,

just the info I needed.

Unfortunately it will probably be a bookbound album (this). Her budget is £300 but has very specific ideas of what she wants so it's been a long hard struggle trying to find something suitable and I'll end up charging very little for my time...

Lesson learnt, I suppose, 'Say no to traditional albums!'.

They're the ones we used to use from spicer by the looks of it. Somewhat cheaper than we used to get them for. The last one I did was close to £500 including prints. And my mrs would still rather do them than the digital

Thanks Colin, spray looks easier (although might be messier...) I'll have to try it out.

Phil, I much prefer the digital books, less chance of messing something up. It's not that I mind some manual labour but they have to be prepared to pay for it!
I might revise my album options to include very expensive digital albums to create a price point for traditional albums to fit into, if people really want one...

Thanks both for the advice.
