Ok so here I go. For the past 2 or so years I've mulled over the idea of doing a 365 but ultimately always backed out because I just assumed I wouldn't stick to it so what's the point in trying. I've decided to give it a go as you've probably guessed by the fact that I'm starting 3 days late im not terribly sure about this but oh well I might as well give it a go .

This is actually being posted a day late as I took the shot and edited it yesterday and i'll be heading out to get a shot for today later.

----- Day 1 -----

This wasn't really want I had intended to take for day 1. I had wanted to take a nice landscape photograph but given the fantastic weather that seems to always elude here I was left with a very overcast day that just got gradually greyer rather than have any sort of colourful sunset.

So after running out of light and still not coming up with any viable idea's I decided to have a go at a shot that I want to shoot as part of a series at a later date as a sort of tribute to Highwayman by the Highwaymen!

The Highwaymen - Highwayman

As I didn't have any costume that would be remotely right the only sort of shot I could think of doing was a tight crop portrait cropped to focus in on my eyes. I put on a hat that didn't really fit in with the theme but would hopefully be able to pull off with a tight crop and a scarf that was similarly out of character.

Using the 50 f1.8 set at f2, iso800 I was going to get 1/40th shutter speed which I figured was enough to take the shot just under the lights in my room. With my arms extended I found the autofocus to be focusing on the scarf so after it focused i just moved my hand in a tiny amount to what I approximated to distance to my eyes being after a few different shots with various poses I settled on this one and processed it to make myself look a little bit rougher and more like... well a highwayman!

So I bid you fair well from Day 1 and leave you with the lyrics... :chillpill:

I was a highwayman. Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The *******s hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive.

I was a sailor. I was born upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide.
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still.

I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around..I'll always be around..and around and around and
around and around

I fly a starship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again...

----- Day 2 -----

This was essentially very similar to what I had planned for an opening image but the weather gods didn't play ball so it ended up coming a day late.

I've lived here all my life (24 years) yet there is still many many places in this fairly small county that are phenomenally beautiful yet I have never been to or even heard off. Living in what's considered a prime tourist destination tends to make you ignore what's around you sometimes as I see it everyday.

This is one location which was entirely unknown to me this time last year, it was found on a whim by just driving down a random road which ended up winding up the side of a mountain with fantastic views all the way up. Nobody I've spoken too from around here has heard of the place and there is only a handful of houses in this area.

Shot wise this was taken on my 20D with the sigma 10-20mm with AEB at -2,0,+2 merged into a HDR in photmatix then post processed with the original and the hdr in photoshop.

So my day 2 shot is one of the mist swirling around co.fermanagh taken from Gortalughany! I've decided to attach some of the supporting pictures which have been taken today as well which all display the same thing but in slightly different way.

----- Day 3 -----

Enniskillen
This was taken in Enniskillen the town which I've lived in or around for all my life. It's quite unusual as a town due to the fact that the actual center of the town is an island, when I was younger I used to paddle around it on canoe's. This particular part is down just across the water from the Enniskillen castle I have some other shots I've taken today as thumbnails at the bottom showing the Castle itself, I'm sure it will be included at some point if not many points as I only live down the road from it.

If you fancy a history lesson here's the wikipedia page for the town: Enniskillen

Lovely scenes and all very well composed, you're going strong.

That's a crackin' start to your '365. All the best with it. :)

----- Day 4 -----

Lough Melvin
Situated on the border between Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland. I was a bit stuck for idea's today so I just took a drive out after getting told of a few places that have nice scenic drives within about 25-30miles of my house. I spotted quite a few different places while I was there so I expect I'll be back to here at some point in the future.

There was some awesome shots that I could of taken had I the time to wait untill sunset but unfortunately I didnt but I will get them at some later date, maybe i'll rent a cherrypicker too so the tree's aren't in the way :D

For good measure the also-rans!

Brilliant shots so far wish I lived somewhere that picturesque, keep em coming :)

Sean

Deus Ex
This my sorta tribute to the game Deus Ex, im sure most of you wont have any idea what that is but it was a very cool game circa 2000. The front cover was an image similar to this one.

Not much else to say here, it was very overcast today so I decided to have a play with something a bit different from a wide angle shot looking into the sun :p.

Flat out today so only had about 30min or so to take a few snaps so went for a fairly simple cyberpunk theme similar to yesterday but with side lighting instead of overhead.

----- Day 7 -----

I've survived a week at least!

A bit of a boring shot but I was confined to walking around town today and took this in the middle of taking a few shots of ducks and gulls.

That's a strong start. A good range of subjects covered. I'll be keeping an eye on your progress I think.

----- Day 8 -----

Ok so I'm a few minutes late with this one but a 5.30am start after 3 hours sleep, off on a 200 mile round trip to go race some R/C cars. Back down after it's over in the house for 5min before I was off to photograph a gig of Fermanagh Concert Band.

So the shot for today is a shot of David Baxter the conductor for Fermanagh Concert Band which I snapped during the interval.

I had wanted to get the candles in it so I wasn't keen on going for a portrait crop as you would lose them and lose the general tunnel feel. That's why I went for the 2:1 crop instead.

Some great shots there mate really liking the Deus Ex shot and the Band Conductor, well done :)

Sean

----- Day 9 -----

After the hectic day yesterday today was a day for relaxation so I decided to have a quick go at smoke trails which is something i've thought of doing for a long time.

Oooh thats nice, liking the 2 different colours of smoke makes for a nice effect well done.

Sean

Some real crackers in there! Looking forward to seeing this one develop!

----- Day 10 -----

A bit of a cop out but I was too busy today to do anything else, i'll try harder tomorrow!

----- Day 11 -----

Well after yesterdays frankly **** poor effort I decided to really have a go at it today and get a really nice shot. This was still the plan at 9.30am when I rang o2 to see about my broadband, come 12.30 when I was in a worse of position I headed off to get lunch bringing the camera but really couldn't be bothered to take any shots. Having not slept the night before I decided I would have a few hours nap before dinner to try and help jump start me into a sleeping routine. My head had barely hit the pillow when my door knocks and my step-dad asks me to take some pictures of his car for autotrader.

Off I go with him to a local car park to get a few exterior and interior shots after doing that I decided head on into town and pick up a book on war bows and order up a few bits for my R/C car. On the way back I actually started to feel like taking some pictures as the sun was setting. This is the fruit of my labour, enjoy.

loving the last 3 the smoke trails especially, but the sky and reflections on the last are fantastic :D
