Ok so here I go. For the past 2 or so years I've mulled over the idea of doing a 365 but ultimately always backed out because I just assumed I wouldn't stick to it so what's the point in trying. I've decided to give it a go as you've probably guessed by the fact that I'm starting 3 days late im not terribly sure about this but oh well I might as well give it a go .
This is actually being posted a day late as I took the shot and edited it yesterday and i'll be heading out to get a shot for today later.
----- Day 1 -----

This wasn't really want I had intended to take for day 1. I had wanted to take a nice landscape photograph but given the fantastic weather that seems to always elude here I was left with a very overcast day that just got gradually greyer rather than have any sort of colourful sunset.
So after running out of light and still not coming up with any viable idea's I decided to have a go at a shot that I want to shoot as part of a series at a later date as a sort of tribute to Highwayman by the Highwaymen!
The Highwaymen - Highwayman
As I didn't have any costume that would be remotely right the only sort of shot I could think of doing was a tight crop portrait cropped to focus in on my eyes. I put on a hat that didn't really fit in with the theme but would hopefully be able to pull off with a tight crop and a scarf that was similarly out of character.
Using the 50 f1.8 set at f2, iso800 I was going to get 1/40th shutter speed which I figured was enough to take the shot just under the lights in my room. With my arms extended I found the autofocus to be focusing on the scarf so after it focused i just moved my hand in a tiny amount to what I approximated to distance to my eyes being after a few different shots with various poses I settled on this one and processed it to make myself look a little bit rougher and more like... well a highwayman!
So I bid you fair well from Day 1 and leave you with the lyrics... :chillpill:
I was a highwayman. Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The *******s hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive.
I was a sailor. I was born upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide.
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still.
I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around..I'll always be around..and around and around and
around and around
I fly a starship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again...
