Step down rings

I've got a 58mm polarizing filter that I want to use on my nifty fifty, its a 52mm thread. Does anyone know if any vigetting will occur if I use a step down ring. You can get them pretty cheap.

If you are using a filter with a larger diameter than the lens, you need a step up ring.

You need a step down ring when the filter diameter is smaller than the lens, eg a 52mm filter on lens with with a 58mm thread.

In your case there should be no problem.
