I booked my car in at Kwik Fit for 4 new tyres fitting. Half an hour after leaving the car with them they sent me a text message to say that they had carried out a health check on the vehicle and that it may need some work doing. I looked at the attached report. It stated that the car needed 4 new tyres - talk about stating the bleeding obvious - I know it needed 4 new tyres that is why I booked it in in the first place. The report also stated that they hadn’t checked the spare tyre as it was inaccessible. Inaccessible, all they had to do was open the bloody boot.

We've used the Exeter Kwik Fit in Summerland Road for several years and they've been good value in our experience.
I think the paper thing is "head office syndrome", with someone feeling that more paper is more professional...

Had my car MOT at Kwik Fit yesterday ... arrived at 2.25 for my 2.30 booking, left at 15.55. Failed on rear brake pads and wouldn't give a price to replace today, only a "ball park figure" of £170-£200 and it would need a full examination before they could give me a fixed price.
Took my car and fail certificate to Setyres ( who have never tried to rip me off ) on way home yesterday and they ordered the parts, said come in at 10am and it would be £150. All done in an hour and they replaced the failed number plate lamp too. Then had another hour wasted at Kwik Fit for the retest.
The only reason I went to them was I could book online and Setyres had nothing until 16th ... MOT runs out on 14th.
I hate how they try to scare people (especially women!) into extra work every time I have had to use them.

Known locally as Kwik Crap, I worked in our local Kia dealer parts dept, KF has the motability tyre contract, they were a great customer for tyre pressure sensors, £50 ish a time, even explained to the manager what they were doing wrong but no change, spoke to motability rep and told me KF didn’t get extra payment for having to sort damages, must be overcharging not to care?

My work car is leased and the lease co. will only use Kwik Fit. I hate going there as it feels like they are looking for ways to rip you off.

I wouldn't go to Kwik Fit. I've been getting my tyres renewed and exhaust with the same company for many years and on a few occasions, when a dealership have said the car needs a new tyre this small business has told me to return in about 6 months. That occasion was after a dealership mechanic said he'd "let it go this time" (MOT).On one service they wanted to renew the tyre repair canister..£80. A similar product in Halfords was £20.
When Toyota wanted £1400 to replace a Prius cat converter the tyre/exhaust garage recommended an "after market" unit..new, same spec but made by a third party..£750.
The dealership's oil change cost £75. A different local garage charged £45. Good quality oil,too. After any guarantee expires ,usually tied into servicing, or a service/MOT deal, we take our cars to this garage. On one occasion my wife got the oil change date wrong and took it to them and they said that, according to their records, it wasn't due for another 4 months. These honest businesses do exist.,.,it's just a matter of finding them. Needless to say, they both have a loyal customer base. It pays.

One of mates does all the MOT's and work that's easier to do up on a ramp - I enjoy doing car work still, but if a lower front arm or something needs doing, I can't be bothered with that on my back on the floor on axle stands

My daughter went there not long after getting her car, to get the alignment checked/adjusted or something but they told her they wouldn't do it because she also wanted two new tyres on payday and they didn't want to do it and charge her for it twice in 3 weeks. Obviously that's not a company the size of KrapFit but it's still a nationwide company/franchise (?)

I'm heading the same way, it's becoming less appealing to do my own work each time. Once I get started it's ok, but it's the upfront thought that puts me off.

I had a different experience with kwik fit when one of my tyre pressure sensors was faulty
I looked online and the nearest kwik fit did not mention TPS so I booked in one about 5 miles away.
After waiting 10 mins past my time a mechanic looked at the car and said that the warning light was not on so there wasn't a problem
I said that I had reset the system so the light would not come on until I had driven about 12 miles
"Yeah I know but it still comes on with the ignition"
"Not if you reset the pressures, it takes 12 miles before it comes on again"
"Yeah I know but it still comes on with the ignition"
"No it takes about 12 miles after you reset the pressures"
"Yeah I know but it still comes on with the ignition"
"Could you just check them, you will find that one is faulty"
"Not worth it if the light hasn't come on"
"It won't come on until I have done 12 miles and I haven't done that since I reset the pressures"

On the way home I called in to the local kwik fit and found that they do replace TPS after all
