Well I finally took the plunge this week - after learning DSLR photography for the last 13mths the 'retro head' in me decided it was time for me to venture back into Film Photography as a little side project :)

After a lot of research on here and online in general I plumped for the Olympus OM10 - I didn't want to spend a fortune on going back to this as my disability has worsened considerably over the years and I didn't know if I'd be able to use the traditional viewfinder as normally I'd just use the Live Screen on my DSLR.. Thankfully 12mths ago as part of my DSLR setup I also bought a Monopod and utilising the Monopod with the OM10 gives me a work-around.. without the monopod I wouldn't be able to turn my arm enough to hold the camera close enough to my eye as the disability I have is similar to a severe artritus..

Anyway here's a pic of my new toy - it also came with the following:

1x Vivitar Mc Tele Converter 3x - 21
1x Olympus 50 mm
1x Miranda 1:45 - 5.6 MC Macro
1x Miranda Multi - Dedicated 700 CD Flash
1x Olympus flash unit
1x Olympus strap

So overall very pleased and really chuffed I've managed to get a 'work-around' to be able to use it :D

Hey Marcus, welcome. Nice bit of kit you've got there. There's quite a bit of distilled advice in the "First film camera..." sticky at the top of this forum, but don't be afraid to ask; someone here is bound to know almost anything, and we really like to help people getting into film.

Oh and do, please, show us some shots. Specially if they're as good as your Flickr stream!

Welcome back Marcus, lovely little camera the OM10, enjoy. Have you thought that maybe a waist level finder might be a solution? You can pick up a cracking little Yashica TLR (maybe an A or D) for £80 to £100, just a thought.

Andy

Thanks Chris - nice to see someone here from close to my home-town of Warwick :D

Yes I've spent quite a bit of time over the last couple of weeks looking through threads in the Film section... its been really useful and certainly helped me with my decisions

I'll definately be looking to post some shots so watch this space :)

Thanks Andy - I hadn't thought about a waist level finder - im not sure why it didn't spring to mind as im a big fan of Vivian Maier and thats the style of camera she used to use...

I'd certainly give that some thought although it'd be useful nearer the time to find someone up in the North-East that had one so I could see if its something I could use with my hands - looking at how you hold them it'd be something I'd like to try before investing in one for myself... if that makes sense :)

there's a plastic one you can buy and assemble, its cheap. Recesky tlr
I have a yashica 44 adapted to 35mm, bit smaller and lighter than 120roll film ones
