Hey all

Just wondering if anyone had any experiences with standalone DVD players supporting DIVX. I'd like to be able to burn 4 or 5 files to a DVD and play them but I can find very little info on the web if it's possible or not. :?

I know you can burn them individually to CD and play them - but that seems an awful waste of CD's to me....

So far the Sony NS92V is looking good specs wise, any suggestions have to be multiregion capable as well.

IIRC some of you are from the AVforums so it's worth asking over here :thumb:

Theres some over at Scan , no personal experience of any of these products though.

LINKY

I have a Liteon 1105HC+ which supports Divx but don't know if it will cope with multiple files. If you've got a link to a legal site where I can grab a few I'll give it a try if you want :)

I bought a Dual DVD 860 from Asda for about £40.

It has 2 card reader slots on the front and apart from displaying pictures it can play DivX straight from the memory card - as well as from CD or DVD.

It does not just play the file it displays the file structure in a tree format so you can choose which one to play.
PQ is good but some DivX files need to be processed to make them play smoothly - there is info on the web about this.

i have the same dvd player, though i've not tested the divx support but it defo supports it, and the card reader is really handy :)

hi , i recently bought a sony dvp-ns52p which supports divX, little more exspensive than the normal player but worth looking at

Do you have a chipped xbox?

With XBMC installed you can network to your pc and watch the files on the tv.
This way you don't have to burn to a cd/dvd.

Thanks for the replies. I've done a lot of reading up over the weekend and found a few instruction PDFs of candidates including my original choice of the Sony NS92V that will play divx on dvd's.

The OPPO one looks very interesting but I don't own a HDMI TV (yet) so that one is out of the question for the time being.

Cheers

Something else to look at would be a Snazio

Not sure if it plays multiple divx files on the same disc, although no need to burn stuff to CD's as this connects to your network and can play stuff over the network.

the 1350 is the model with built in DVD drive and network, the 1310 is network only.

Mark.
