As I have been having some problems with uneven development on 120 film I thought I would buy a couple of Hewes SS reels as I believe they are the bees knees. Trouble is they obviously don't work with my Patterson tanks so now I need a stainless steel tank.
Anyone got one they don't want or know of some places I could get one.

I've looked on the bay of E and they are mainly in the States and with postage very expensive, I looked at second hand darkroom (where I got the reels) and they have none, neither do Ffordes. Any suggestions.

My phone has no bookmarks..:(

Have you tried firstcall, they have obscure stuff sometimes

Cheers guys, I shall give all the sites a perusal.

You are wasting your time. If you have uneven depelopment find out why. It is nothing to do with not using a stainless steel tank. Don't waste money. Find out what you are doing wrong. Millions of people have used plastic tanks and don't get uneven development!

I know, but I have spent quite some time dismissing other options and this seems to be the only remaining factor. When I dev 2 rolls at a time often one is fine but the other is uneven and it seems to be on the rolls where i have had trouble loading film onto reels so I thought I would try a different type of reel as I have read the the SS ones are much easier to load and do not kink the film and i think that this is what is happening on the uneven ones, maybe even film touching film.
I'm prepared to give it a go as I'm not too bothered about the cost. If it doesn't make any difference they can go back on the bay and nothing lost.

dont some plastic tanks take metal reels?

I believe so but I haven't found any yet.

Andy if you want to try a Jobo reel and tank let me know, I find them much easier to load that Patterson.

Thanks mate but I do have a single reel jobo tank and a couple of reels. They are defo easier but I've had similar problems, although not as often.

If its worth anything, I found stainless steel reels harder to put the film on, a lot fiddlier getting the film clipped on.

Andy, I *might* have a SS tank and some reels you can try out. If I can find them...

Cheers Rob, I've got a couple of Hewes reels already so I just need the tank, if you can find it that would be excellent.
