I am potentially buying an early 2008 iMac and am considering swapping the HDD out to a SSD. I am thinking of having a stand alone HDD as they're pretty cheap and I can move and swap images about between machines if I need to. Also going to up the ram to 6Gb. So, question is, can I save myself a few quid and get a smaller 120gb model or do I need a bigger one?

I plan on running cs and lr and maybe aperture.

Thanks.
David.

I have 120GB SSD on my desktop running mac OS, and it's more than enough, as long as you keep most storage type stuff on another drive (images/videos etc), just looking at the info on the drive I'm using 58GB of 120 gb, so just under half, and I'm running CS/LR/Aperture etc

Excellent news Les, thanks for reasurring my thoughts.

Are they as quick as everyone says Les?

Yep, also I replaced the HDD drive with a SSD drive in my 2008 macbook pro, and it made a significant difference.
